The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), through its Centre for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics, and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) Global Complex for Innovation are organizing their third annual global meeting on AI for Law Enforcement. The event will take place virtually from 23-27 November and will see the participation of representatives of the law enforcement, academia, private sector, and from UN and INTERPOL Member States.
The overarching objective of the third Global Meeting is to continue to explore AI use cases for law enforcement and galvanize momentum toward the responsible use of the technology in a manner that is consistent with human rights, the rule of law and democracy.
The meeting will serve as an opportunity to collect essential feedback from stakeholders for the design of a Responsible AI Innovation Toolkit for Law Enforcement. Several regional discussion groups and practical workshops on finding AI-supported solutions for major crime-related problems will also take place during the meeting.
Maximizing the benefits and minimizing the risks of AI requires an open and comprehensive understanding of the issue and the collective engagement of a broad spectrum of stakeholders from governments, private sector, academia and civil society.
