Opening ceremony of Summer School on Migration and Human rights
To mark the 5th edition of Summer School on Human Rights, this year focused on Migration, UNICRI and John Cabot University organised the screening of the Golden Bear winning documentary Fuocoammare (Fire at Sea) directed by Gianfranco Rosi. The screening took place on 11 July at the Aula Magna theatre at John Cabot Guarini Campus.
The world is currently experiencing an unprecedented level of migration. According to the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs International Migration Report approximately 244 million people reside outside their country of origin.

Over the past three weeks some high level international experts have been delivering exclusive lectures to the group of selected students currently attending the International Expert Programme in Investigative and Legal Psychology. Discrimination, hate speech, and hate crime all have destabilizing effects on societal cohesiveness and human rights. With the increasing use of various forms of communication technology in recent years, the threat posed by hate speech has grown. Words employed as weapons can be transmitted globally in a matter of seconds, fuelling prejudices and provoking physical hate crime.
The two-day specialized course that took place at the UNICRI HQ on 21-22 January brought together media professionals, international organizations representatives and environmental experts from 18 countries to share investigative tools and deepen knowledge of current threats to the natural environment.
The specialized course aimed to provide media and public information professionals with an in-depth understanding of environmental issues, especially those related to crime prevention, and their links with sustainable development and human rights.

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) is organizing a new course focused on crimes against the environment. The course, which will be held at the United Nations Campus in Turin on 21-22 January 2015, is tailored to journalists and chief information officers, as well as those who want to specialize in this area.
