The 21st Regional Strategic Coordination Meeting of National Focal Points for Central Asia (CA) convened in Astana, Kazakhstan, bringing together key stakeholders to advance regional cooperation in the field of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) safety and security.
The meeting was organized by the European Union’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (EU CBRN CoE) and hosted by its Regional Secretariat for Central Asia (CA).
The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) is launching a comprehensive study focusing on crimes associated with the mining and trafficking of critical minerals in Southeast Asia. We are seeking collaborators to be interviewed about their work experiences on this topic and to serve as members of our Expert Working Group.

Central Asia witnessed a remarkable test of its preparedness and response capabilities through a meticulously planned tabletop exercise on 21 and 22 May 2024. The exercise was a significant milestone within the framework of Project 87 on "Preparedness and Response for Mass Gatherings and other Health Threats in Central Asia." This is a collaborative effort under the European Union’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CoE) Initiative.

A three-day workshop focused on integrating gender perspectives into preventing violent extremism (PVE) strategies concluded successfully in Nouakchott, Mauritania. Hosted from May 20th to 22nd, the event, facilitated by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), brought together representatives from not-for-profit and civil society organizations, and women and youth-led groups, showcasing a strong commitment to adopting gender-responsive PVE approaches.
